ABOUT THE ARTIST

Born in Ottawa, Nancy Halpin has lived most of her life in southern Ontario and now resides in Aylmer, Quebec. In 1981, she graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, having achieved a Photo Book Award and a Pentax Photography Award. Nancy worked as an assistant to John Reeves, well-known Canadian photographer, as she built a career in freelance editorial photography. Recently her passion for photography is primarily as an art form, inspired by intriguing imagery discovered in even the most mundane environments that nature provides. Much of Nancy’s current work incorporates the encaustic medium within her photography, enabling more direct involvement in her creations.  Her artwork has been exhibited in galleries, juried art shows, restaurants and libraries in the Ottawa-Gatineau area, Montreal and Quebec City.

Nancy Halpin is a member of Arts visuels de Gatineau.
